Historical Theology deals with historical dynamics of Christian doctrine. TheoLab’s academic team examines the doctrine and liturgy of the Armenian Apostolic Church within different historical periods and geopolitical contexts by focusing on elaborations, vocabulary switch and prioritization of tenets stemming from the demands of a particular historical period.

In this section we discuss the interplay between historical and political theology, historiosophy and theology in general as well as the theoretical grounds of metahistorical theology with the focus on the problem of theodicy.

Theolab’s interests include the early modern, modern, also recent historic-confessional contexts and developments, the polyphony of the Armenian Apostolic Church practice in Armenia and Diaspora, the search of paths for refashioning of theological vocabulary as well as methods in theory and practice in postmodern times.
